What to Wear and Bring for a Desert Buggy Adventure

The right clothing makes a big difference to how much you enjoy a desert buggy ride. Sand, sun and wind are all part of the fun, so a little planning keeps you comfortable from start to finish.

What to Wear

  • Light, breathable clothing: cotton or quick-dry fabrics work well in the heat.
  • Long sleeves and long trousers: they protect your skin from the sun and from sand and dust.
  • Closed shoes: trainers or sturdy shoes are better than sandals or flip-flops.
  • A light layer: useful for cooler mornings and evenings.

What to Bring

  • Sunglasses: they help with glare from the sand, even if goggles are provided.
  • Sunscreen: apply before you arrive and again if you are out for a long time.
  • A scarf or face covering: handy if the wind lifts the dust.
  • Water: stay hydrated before and after your ride.
  • Phone or camera: keep it secure, and ask your guide where it is safe to take photos.

What to Leave Behind

  • Loose items that could fall out during the ride.
  • Expensive jewellery or anything you would hate to lose in the sand.
  • Clothing that is very loose or has long straps that could catch on the controls.

Check What Your Tour Provides

Safety equipment such as helmets and goggles is often supplied on guided tours, but arrangements differ. Check your tour page or ask the team before you arrive so you know exactly what is provided and what you should bring yourself.
